Montana Batteries

WARRANTY PROCEDURE

Product Warranty

The warranty begins on the original date of purchase and is valid as long as the correct battery is chosen, installed, maintained, and used under normal conditions in accordance with the application guide and the original vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. It is confirmed that the automotive batteries are free of material and workmanship defects for a specified period from the date of purchase by the end user. Should a battery be replaced under this warranty, the replacement will be covered for the remainder of the original warranty term. A new warranty period does not begin with the replacement of the battery or product.

Warranty Claim Terms and Conditions

It is agreed, at sole discretion, to repair, recharge, or replace the battery if it becomes defective, malfunctions, or fails during the warranty period, subject to the following terms:

  • The purchase receipt must be presented.
  • The warranty applies exclusively to the final user and is only valid within the Republic of South Africa.
  • The warranty covers only material and workmanship defects; it does not cover consequential or transportation charges.
  • Warranty terms complement the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA). If applicable:
    • It applies only to the original buyer.
    • Valid only within the warranty period.
    • Requires proof of original purchase.
  • If a battery is replaced, the replacement is covered only for the remaining original warranty period.
  • The end user must submit a warranty claim as soon as a fault is discovered, return the battery with claim paperwork to an official retailer, and follow the claims procedure.
  • A representative will assess the product.
  • Battery must be charged to at least 12.6V (out of car) or 13V (in car) to test.
  • If below 12.6V, it must be recharged before retesting (up to 24 hours charging time may be required).
  • If the store is remote, the inspection will be via video call/email and photographic evidence.

Claims Procedure for Damages

For claims relating to product malfunction, defect, failure, or hazardous characteristics, follow this process:

  1. Complete the official claim form with proof of purchase.
  2. Attach all damage-related documents (quotes, repair invoices, evidence of mitigation efforts).
  3. Return the product, claim form, and documents to any official branch or outlet.
  4. Claims must be submitted within 30 days of discovering the issue.
  5. A representative will assess the product to confirm:
    • Defect/failure/hazard
    • Any resulting damage or harm

The warranty provider will determine:

  • Whether a malfunction/failure exists
  • Remedy options (repair, replacement, or compensation)

Remedies will comply with the Consumer Protection Act, if applicable and within its time frame.

If the claimant disagrees with the decision, they may appoint an independent assessor at their own cost. The case will be re-evaluated based on the assessor’s findings.

Claimants retain the right to pursue claims via Chapter 3 of the Consumer Protection Act for defective or unsafe products.

A discharge form must be signed to finalize any settlement.
